A reminder that the AAA Graduate School Fair takes place Saturday, November 19 12:00pm-4:00pm. It is a great opportunity for prospective graduate students to speak with program directors representing graduate programs from around the country.

The Portland State University Anthropology Department taking Applications

The Portland State University Anthropology Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Sociocultural Anthropology, to begin September 2017. We seek an applied anthropologist with a Ph.D. (ABDs who will have PhD completed by Sept 15, 2017 also considered). The applicant should have demonstrated experience in developing applied research projects. Area of expertise is open, but North America, Asia or Latin America preferred. The successful applicant will teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses, e.g., a general introductory course, theory and method courses, and graduate and undergraduate courses relevant to the applicant’s area of expertise. Applicants should demonstrate a strong record of teaching, publication, research, and securing external funding, commensurate with career stage. Ability to develop internships and engage students in community-based projects also desired. PSU has an MA/MS in Anthropology. Normal teaching load is 2-2-2, reduced in the first two years. (PSU is on the quarter system.) There is the potential for course releases through external funding.

CAREERS EXPO at AAA 2016

CAREERS EXPO! Meet professional anthropologists and explore career options at the NAPA/AAA Careers Expo Friday, November 18 11:00am-4:00pm at the AAA meeting in the main exhibit hall.  Students, new professionals, and faculty mentoring young anthropologists will have the opportunity to meet with professional anthropologists and explore career options. Last year over 600 new and young professional, applied, and practicing anthropologists and faculty guiding young anthropologist attended the Expo.
