Contaminating the Field(s): Building a Community of Learners Across Sicily, Italy, and the USA
This collection of four blogs is written by participants of Community Planning and Environmental Design (CoPED), an interdisciplinary collaborative summer school program based in Sicily. Each piece represents a different perspective on the question: what does anthropology bring to the work of CoPED, the Participatory Presidium and the Simeto River Agreement? Writing as community partners from the Participatory Presidium and faculty and students from the Departments of Anthropology and Engineering, respectively, these posts reveal the differing definitions and contours of “the field” – as practice, as home, as a research site, as co-learning space, as a discipline, as theoretical orientation, and more.
